SSC Junior Engineer Departments & Respective Post

A candidate is required to indicate in his/her SSC JE application form, the name of the post for which he/she would like to be considered for final allotment in order of preference. Allotment of posts to the selected candidates will be done strictly keeping in mind their position in the final merit list and their chosen order of preference in the SSC JE application form.

#Note: The allotment of the SSC JE department and respective post is subjected to a number of vacancies available for that post.

Under SSC JE Exam, all these following departments recruit junior engineers in their available departments.

SSC Junior Engineer Vacancy Eligibility Criteria

I. SSC JE Eligibility: Citizenship/Nationality

To appear in the SSC Junior Exam candidate must be either:

  • a citizen of India, or
  • a citizen of Nepal, or
  • a citizen of Bhutan, or
  • a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  • a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently setting in India

II. SSC JE Eligibility: Age Limit

The age limit for the posts of Junior Engineers in various Ministries/ Departments/ Organizations as of 01.01.2021 is as under:

#Note:

Permissible relaxation in the upper age limit prescribed is as follows:

#Note:

III. SSC JE Eligibility: Educational Qualifications

Essential Educational Qualification and experience, etc required for the various posts are as follows:

1. Border Roads Organization, Ministry of Defence

Civil Electrical & Mechanical
Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University/ Institute or
(a) Three years Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized University/ Institute/ Board; and
(b) Two years of working experience in Planning/ Execution /Maintenance of Civil Engineering works.
Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University/ Institute; or
(a) Three years Diploma in Electrical/ Automobile/ Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University/ Institute/ Board; and
(b) Two years experience in Planning/ Execution/ Maintenance of Electrical or Mechanical Engineering works.

2. Central Public Works Department (CPWD)

Civil Electrical
Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized University or Institute. Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University or Institute.

3. Central Water Power Research Station

Civil Electrical Mechanical
Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized Institute. Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized Institute. Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized Institute.

4.  Central Water Commission

Civil Mechanical
Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized Institute. Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized Institute.

5. Directorate of Quality Assurance Naval

Mechanical Electrical
Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized Institute; or
(a) Three years Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University or Institution plus
(b) Two years of experience in the respective field.
Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized Institute; or
(a) Three years Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized University or Institution plus
(b) Two years of experience in the respective field.

6. Farakka Barrage Project

Civil Electrical Mechanical
Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized Institute. Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized Institute. Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized Institute.

7. National Technical Research Organization (NTRO)

Civil Electrical Mechanical
Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized Institute. Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized Institute. Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized Institute.

8. Military Engineer Services

Civil Electrical & Mechanical
Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University/ Institute or
(a) Three years Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized University/ Institute/ Board; and
(b) Two years of working experience in Planning/ Execution /Maintenance of Civil Engineering works.

SSC JE Recruitment How to  Apply Online

The process of filling the SSC Junior Engineer online application form for the examination consists of two parts:
I. One Time Registration
II. Filling of Application

One Time Registration

Step1: For one-time registration for the SSC JE exam visit the SSC official website www.ssc.nic.in

Step2: You will be redirected to the home page click on the link ‘Register Now’ provided in the login section.

#Note: One-Time Registration process requires filling up of the following information:

a. Basic details
b. Additional and contact details
c. Declaration

Step3: After clicking on the register button a new page will be open (basically a form) where you have to fill your personal details like Name, Parents Name, Date of Birth, Aadhar No, Class X examination details, highest level of education, mobile no. & email id (for OTP verification), permanent address.

Step4: After submitting the data system will Generate the Registration Number & Password, Remember and save your registration no. and password for further References.

Step5:  Log-in using the registration number & password. Change your system generated password on the first login.

Step6: Log-in again with your new password.

Step7: Now information about the Basic Details filled by you in previous steps will be displayed. You may edit it, if required or proceed further by clicking on the Next button.

Step8: Provide additionals details like category, nationality, disability, and other asked details; save the data and proceed further to the one-time registration process.

Step9: Now before the final submission read the Declaration, click on I agree, and then click on the final submit button.

Step10: On clicking the Final Submit button, different OTPs will be sent on your mobile number and Email ID. You need to enter one of the two OTPs at a designated field to complete the Registration Process.

And, That’s it, your registration process is completed.

Filling Application Form

#Note: In the SSC JE application form candidates are required to upload the scanned color passport size photograph in JPEG format (20 KB to 50 KB). The photograph should not be more than three months old from the date of the publication of the Notice of Examination, and, the date on which the photograph has been taken should be clearly printed on the photograph. Applications without such a date printed on the photograph will be rejected.

Step1: Login to the system with your unique registration no. and password.

Step2: Click on Apply Link in the Junior Engineer section under the Latest Notification tabs.

Step3: The data you provided at the time of registration will be automatically filled in the SSC Junior Engineer application form which can not be edited.

Step4: Now you need to enter some additional details regarding the SSC Junior Exam like the preference of examination centers, preference of Junior Engineer post, provide necessary educational qualification, fill required details to avail quota, or age relaxation.

Step5: You need to upload a scanned copy of your photograph and signature as per the criteria mentioned in the official SSC JE notification.

Step6: Click on the ‘I agree’ button, go through your filled details check them carefully, edit the data if you think so it needs modification using the given button, or click the submit button for the next process.

Step7: Pay the asked examination fees through the given online or offline processes. And, Hurry!!! Your Application form is completely filled.

Step8: And at last, Don’t forget to take the print of the application form for your future reference.

#Note: It is suggested to the candidates before submission of application fee carefully check all the entry fill in the form is corrected because after fee submission under any circumstances fee should not be refundable. SSC Junior Engineer Application Fee

Fee payable: Rs 100/- (Rs one hundred only).

Women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with disabilities (PwD), and Ex-Servicemen eligible for reservation are exempted from payment of the fee.

Fee can be paid through BHIM UPI, Net Banking or by using Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, RuPay Credit or Debit card or in cash at SBI Branches by generating SBI Challan.

Fees once paid will not be refunded by the SSC authority under any circumstances nor it will be adjusted against any other exam application or process.

SSC Junior Engineer Exam Admit Card

The Staff Selection Commission will issue the Junior Engineer exam admit card before the two weeks (tentative) of the exam date. We will also notify you about the SSC JE admit card here at this page and provide you a direct link to download. The SSC JE admit card will have the time table and venue of the examination, thus you would have basically two weeks to make a travel arrangement to the exam venue which I think is sufficient.

Candidates you can also download your SSC JE admit card from the regional/sub-regional SSC websites as concerned.

#Note:

  • The SSC Junior Engineer admit card will not be sent by post in any circumstances.
  • Every candidate must carry at least one original Photo ID with the admit card at the exam venue.
  • Also, the applicants must bring three passport size colored photograph on examination day.
  • If a candidate does not get an admit card one-week prior exam date, then he/she must contact the concerned regional/sub-regional officers with details like registration number, payment ID, challan copy etc.

SSC Junior Engineer Selection Process

Minimum qualifying marks in Paper-I and Paper-II are as follows:

(i) UR : 30%
(ii) OBC/ EWS : 25%
(iii) Others: 20%

  • Based on the normalized marks scored in the (Paper-I) i.e. Computer Based Examination, candidates will be shortlisted, category-wise, to appear in Paper-II.
  • Based on the performance in Paper-I+Paper-II, candidates will be shortlisted for Document Verification.
  • Final selection and allocation of Ministries/ Departments/ Organizations will be made on the basis of the performance of candidates in Paper-I+Paper-II and the preference of Ministries/Departments/ Organizations exercised by them at the time of Document Verification.

SSC Junior Engineer Document Verification

All the candidates qualified for the document verification for the SSC Junior engineer exam are required to carry the copies of the following documents with the originals at the time of DV.

First, Candidates have to bring two passport size recent color photographs and one original valid Photo ID Proof while appearing for the Document Verification. Photo ID Proof can be one of the following:

  • Aadhaar Card
  • Passport.
  • PAN Card.
  • Voter ID Card.
  • Driving License.
  • Government School/ College ID Card.
  • Ex-serviceman Discharge Book issued by Ministry of Defence,
  • Employer ID (Govt./ PSU)
  • Any other Photo bearing ID Card issued by Central/ State Govt

Second candidates have to submit the photocopies of the following documents at the DV centers.

  • Matriculation/ Secondary Certificate.
  • Educational Qualification Certificate.
  • Persons with Disabilities Certificate in the required format, if applicable.
  • Caste/ Category Certificate, if belongs to reserved categories.
  • Experience Certificate, if applicable.
  • Relevant Certificate as mentioned in the official notification if seeking any age relaxation
  • Any other document specified in the Admission Certificate for DV.

SSC Junior Engineer Result/ Merit List

Staff Selection Commission will first release the result of Computer Based Examination (ie. Paper-I) followed by Descriptive Examination (ie. Paper-II) on the official website. Only after the result is declared, all the candidates will be able to see their marks on the official website.

In the SSC JE  Paper-1 Merit List Commission will publish the rank-wise names and roll numbers of only those candidates who are eligible for Paper-2. Similarly, in Paper 2 Merit List SSC published the rank-wise names and roll numbers of the candidates who qualified for document verification. To check the result, candidates have to log in to the SSC portal using their roll number and password (Date of Birth-DOB).

SSC Junior Engineer Salary/ Grade Pay

In the table given below, the candidates are provided with a brief description about the gross salary, grade-pay and hand salary of SSC Junior engineer:

If we consider all the taxes and include allowances SSC Junior Engineer will get a salary of Rs 32667 to 37119 per month.

While SSC Junior Engineer (JE.) gets in hand 29455 to 33907 salary after deducting all relevant taxes and provident fund.

SSC Junior Engineer (JE) salary structure after 7th Pay Commission

The pay structure of various government posts will be upgraded with the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission.

The salary for various government posts under the 7th Pay Commission can be calculated in the following manner-

New payment = (basic salary * 2.57 as on 1 January 2016) + all allowances applicable for the post

The salary band of Junior Engineer Post falls under Level 6 of 7 Pay Commission which will be Rs 35400-112400 and will be considered effective from 5 January – 8 January 2018. Under 7th Pay Commission, the in-hand salary of a junior engineer will be Rs. 44,000 including all allowances, which includes the following:

  • Dearness allowance (D.A.)
  • Medical allowance
  • House rent allowance
  • Travel allowance
  • Other special allowance, etc.
